All of our new hires begin their welding and fabrication career at High Steel Structures with High Steel University.
In this paid hands-on onboarding and training program, you will spend 6-8 weeks gaining the welding certifications, safety training and understanding of our processes that you will need to perform the complex fabrication required for our work.
Foundation welding courses include training in Stick, Submerged Arc, and MIG welding. The training for welding skill comprehension also includes a certification test. Additional courses such as Bridge Basics, Basic Shop Drawings, Basic Heating, Lay-out, Weld Procedures and Grinding Basics will help you understand High Steel's business model.
You will also spend time getting oriented to the shop areas you will be assigned to after completing the initial training.
As you progress in your career, you may return to High Steel University for role-specific training in complex welding processes such as building, fitting, and finishing on the Girder Line.
Welding skills are not the only focus in HSU. We also have in our extensive course catalog classes centering on coatings applications, bolting applications, and crane training.
